Brian's Status Blog

Hey everyone! Thanks for visiting the blog that I have set up at the request of many people who continue to request updates on how Brian is doing. So to start this out and for those who don't know what's going on with him here is a brief overview of the happenings of our friend, brother, son, coach and lover.
A couple weeks ago Brian went to the doctor complaining of chest pains which he thought was something like a bruised lung. First, those of you who know him are saying "wait Brian went to the doctor?" So you know if must have been very painful. Anyway, the doctor ordered a chest xray which showed a small pneumonia in the lower left lobe of his lung and a huge mass in the upper part of his chest cavity. We heard thing as benign as Valley Fever and the like but after a CT scan the initial thought was Lymphoma. Our next appointment was with a wonderful man name Dr. Douglas Lowell. After a pretty brief examination we decided the best course of action would be to extract a swollen lymph node under Brian's right arm and submit it for biopsy. Prelimiary studies ended up inconclusive and the samples are now in the hands of the pathologists at UMC. Apparently, we're looking at some weird form of non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and are waiting to find out something difinitive before starting treatment.

For the most part he is in good spirits and ready to tackle this new WOD (workout of the day for you non CrossFitters). We will keep this blog going and up to date as best we can. Please feel free to text, call or email him. He loves hearing from you all. You are all an inspiration to him and gives him reason to keep fighting. As well, he says, do I and his rotten monster doggies.
